KRISTINZA W. GIESE, MDsection chair
Dr. Kristinza Giese is a native of the Washington, DC area and is a graduate of Howard University. In 2006, she graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Her post graduate medical training includes General Surgery Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at University of Washington Medical Center. In 2011, Dr. Giese accepted a Forensic Pathology Fellowship at the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office. She has been an Associate Medical Examiner at the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office in Fond du Lac, WI and is presently a Deputy Medical Examiner at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Washington, DC. Dr. Giese is board certified in Anatomic, Clinical, and Forensic Pathology. She is also a member of many organizations, including the American Academy of Forensic Science, the National Association of Medical Examiners, the College of American Pathologists, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Dr. Giese enjoys teaching and has given multiple volunteer lectures to Forensic Science students and interns. When she is not in the autopsy room, she enjoys playing her violin, playing tennis, and spending time with her two sons, Jay and Julius.

EKENE I. OKOYE, MDsection vice chairDr. Okoye received her MD degree from the Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, MA, in 2006. She then completed her anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center, where she held the position of chief resident (2010-2011). Dr. Okoye then completed a surgical pathology fellowship at Houston Methodist Hospital and a gynecologic pathology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She joined Houston Methodist Hospital as a staff pathologist in 2013. Dr. Okoye is a general surgical pathologist with subspecialty interest in gynecologic pathology. She is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology. Dr. Okoye also serves as the Associate Director of the Women’s Health Pathology Fellowship program. Dr. Okoye is a member of the College of American Pathologists, the Houston Society of Clinical Pathologists, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the American Association of Cytopathology, and the Texas Society of Pathologists. Dr. Okoye is a member of the editorial board and section editor of gynecologic pathology for Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
