Our Mission

The Pathology Section of the National Medical Association is committed to increasing representation and recognition of African Americans and other underrepresented minorities while making an impact on the field of Pathology. The section has a goal to provide mentoring relationships and share educational content to ensure best practices with regard to anatomic pathology and laboratory medicine.

Get Involved
The Pathology Section of the NMA has a number of standing committees, each with its own way to help expand the section's mission.
Scholarship Committee
Beginning in 2020, the Future of Pathology Award was established to honor undergraduate students, medical students, residents, and fellows with a special interest in Pathology. This committee helps advertise and complete the selection process to help encourage the future generation of Pathologists.

Annual Program Organization & Education Committee
The NMA Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly occurs each summer and includes 26 medical specialties from Aerospace Medicine to Women's Health. This committee's objective is to provide relevant educational material, recruit program speakers, and organize social events during the annual meeting.

Funding & Outreach Committee
Experience in grant submission and CME joint partnership programs is needed to provide funding for the Pathology section's educational programs. The outreach committee concentrates on recruitment, social media engagement, personal interaction, and mentorship.
